This was my first solo woodturning project. After I finished college I had a lot more time to do things. My father is a pretty skilled carpenter and woodworker so I started doing some projects with him. I got myself really interested in woodturning but my dad doesn't know much about it and, despite having a pretty comprehensive wood shop, we don't have a lathe.
I took some classes on woodturning. One of the classes gave each student a block of poplar at the end for our own project. I used it to make my own bowl.
I watch a ton of videos on woodturning and I learn everything I can about it from turners I meet. Like anything, none of this entirely prepares you for doing it yourself so this was a bit of an adventure and has a number of imperfections. Practice makes perfect!
